Photobooth — The Guest Photo Station
A stationed photo setup for guests with props, backdrops, and instant prints. Most common format: a 360° spinning camera, classic strip booth, or mirror booth. Bridges the formal photography with guest-generated content for social sharing.
The photobooth is a self-service photo station guests visit throughout the reception. It handles what the main photographer can't: every individual guest gets a memento, and every couple/friend group gets their own candid shot without stopping the pro.
The four common formats
1. Classic strip booth ($500–$900)
Traditional enclosed booth, curtain, printed 2x6 strip with 4 photos. Props like boas, hats, glasses. Feels retro. Good for older generations who expect the classic feel.
2. Open-air booth with backdrop ($700–$1,400)
A camera on a tripod + a printed backdrop (flower wall, velvet, quince-themed custom). More Instagrammable. Groups of 6–8 can fit in one photo. Most popular option 2024–2026.
3. 360° spin booth ($1,200–$2,200)
Guest stands on a small platform, a camera arm spins around them capturing slow-motion video. Most viral on TikTok. Usually produces short looping videos, not prints. Requires 8-10 feet of floor space and a dedicated attendant.
4. Mirror booth ($900–$1,600)
A large touchscreen mirror with animations. Guest stands in front, follows prompts, receives a print. Fun for kids and guests who aren't sure what to do.
What to include in the package
- Unlimited prints (or digital delivery for 360°)
- Props — minimum of 15–25 quality items. Cheap plastic props tell everyone the booth is cheap.
- Attendant — someone stationed the whole time to help, replenish, troubleshoot. Non-negotiable. Self-service booths with no attendant have a 30% higher failure rate.
- Custom print layout — the strip or frame includes the quinceañera's name, date, and theme. Free from any decent vendor.
- Digital gallery — all photos delivered via a shareable link within 72 hours.
Timing
Position the booth where guests pass during cocktail hour AND during the dance floor segment. Activate it at 7:30 PM (after main entrances but before dinner wrap) and run through 11:30 PM. 4 hours is the standard package.
Placement
- Near the dance floor, not in a corner. Isolated booths get forgotten.
- Away from the DJ — sound bleed confuses the attendant and guests waiting in line.
- Good ambient light — dark corners produce poor booth photos. Ask the venue about the area's lighting.
What makes a booth memorable vs forgettable
The difference is the backdrop. A pre-printed "Happy 15" generic backdrop photographs poorly and guests skip it. A custom backdrop built around the quince theme (florals matching the decor, cursive name signage, the same color palette as the cake) makes guests WANT to post the photo.
Budget $100–$400 for a custom backdrop on top of the booth rental.
When to skip it
Skip the photobooth if your venue has unusually tight floor space, if the budget is committed to the main photographer + videographer, or if your guest count is under 80 (small events don't benefit enough to justify the cost).

Hora Loca — the Crazy Hour
A high-energy hour (usually 45-60 minutes) of costumed entertainment, masks, props, and upbeat music injected into the reception to re-energize guests. Popular in Dominican, Colombian, and Venezuelan celebrations; increasingly common in Mexican-American quinces.
